This course is a great introduction to the industry. You will develop the skills and knowledge required to progress on to the next level of study and will have the opportunity to complete work experience within a salon setting.
 
You will explore everything from the art of dressing and styling hair and creating an image, to colouring hair effectively and maintaining a professional image in the salon.

During this course, you will cover the following units:
 
Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
Presenting a professional image in a salon
The art of dressing hair
Health and safety in the salon
Working with others in the hair and beauty sector
Create a hair and beauty image
Colour hair using temporary colour
Salon reception duties
Create and maintain retail displays in the salon
Shampoo and conditioning
Styling women's hair
Hair plaiting
Work experience within a commercial salon and tutorials will also form part of this course
 
At the start of your course, you will practice the skills on friends and family members, following this, you will be required to bring clients in for your assessments.
